Welcome

what's on the menu?

This is always the question in my house, we love to eat, I love to cook, but we also want fresh and healthy meals made with fresh ingredients

Life on a constant loop of heading to the supermarket, fighting through the crowds, stacking the trolley with foods, most of it wrapped in plastic or some form of packaging, and then only to do it again next week.

I started my garden because to have fresh foods to feed me and my family, knowing that they were grown organically, packed with nutrition, on good soils and not coming wrapped in plastic.

Good news

I realised we can have these fresh ingredients  and vegetables we are wanting in our kitchen, by creating our own urban backyard garden!

It is easier than many people realise, but it does take quite a bit of time to learn, plan, prepare, analyse the site, follow the sun direction and choose what to plant.

I have always had a dream to grow and eat my own food, grown in nutrient rich soil, without pesticides and straight to my plate, I thought this was too difficult and that I would need a huge piece of land to make this dream come true.

My I am learning that from my patio, lounge, kitchen window and small garden, I can actually grow so much food

About me

 Bridgette Macilwaine

I live in England, but was born in Zimbabwe where I spent some childhood years, then moved around to Mozambique and Jamaica, because of my fathers job.

I love any form of activity or games, being outside is where I feel the happiest, either cycling,  hiking, paddleboarding, camping and exploring.

I love food, cooking and baking, I thoroughly enjoy studying all aspects of nutrition and how the food we eat impacts out thoughts, moods and digestion.
