Growing vegetables in pots

Updated: Sep 20, 2021

We are so suprised and proud with how well these vegetables are growing, so green and beautiful. As seen in the image below, these large mushroom boxes are a handy recycling option for growing big lettuces.

As the weather has warmed up I managed to clear an area from building supplies in the garden, so I could move all the plants outside to get some well needed sunshine and a little breeze, quite an easy job but took forever because I have so many pots!

🌱 Handy hint:

Make sure your growing veggies are getting sunshine and water everyday if you want them to grow well, in containers they can dry out quickly.

The lettuce in the picture above have done much better than expected, these mushroom boxes are a great size for them as the roots are not very deep and there is enough compost to support them growing, although one issue, they dry out very quickly so if you choose to try this option, make sure to keep the watered everyday, and you can see how well they are doing!

As you can see these plants have been growing so well on my floor so far, the only issue I have found is the time needed to look after them all, watering and moving around.

These plants below are looking quite small in their large pots, but I was sure to check online at the size of cauliflower and broccoli plants when fully grown and they can get quite huge, so even my long trough there will be too small for them, but this is all I have for now so we will just have to see how they go and soon I can get a few larger pots and more compost to hopefully move them into without too much damage to the roots.
